THIS quarantine season, different government agencies become more and more creative with encouraging people on health protocols.

Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), for example, launched the Tiktok challenge, which gave free mobile load for the winners. As the Tiktok app had been a hit for many since the start of quarantine season, CTOO’s contest was also deemed successful as many Dabawenyos participated and enjoyed.

Now, the Philippine Cultural Education Program (PCEP) launches their "Maghugas ng Kamay Music Contest" on their Facebook page. National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) chairman, poet, and National Artist Virgilio Almario (aka Rio Alma) wrote a poem titled "Maghugas ng Kamay."

Interested participants to the contest will have to make an original tone. They will also have to make a video where the poem is being sung. Participants can be in group or individual.

Post the video on your Facebook wall, tag @pcepofficial and use the #maghugasngkamay. Entries will be accepted from April 7, 2020 until April 14, 2020.

The best 10 entries will be selected by PCEP and will be uploaded on their official Facebook page. The video with the most number of likes on PCEP’s page by April 20, 2020, 12noon, will receive P5,000 cash prize.

What a way to creatively promote hand-washing especially for kids!

For those interested, here’s the copy of the poem by Rio Alma:

Maghugas ng kamay,

Sabuning mabuti,

Alisan ng dumi,

Patayin ang peste.

Maghugas ng loob,

Sabunin ang bait

Tanggalin ang inggit,

Supilin ang galit.

Maghugas ng kamay,

Sabuning mabuti,

Alisan ng dumi,

Patayin ang peste

Maghugas ng puso,

Sabunin ang tanaw

Itakwil ang takaw,

Iwaksi ang layaw

Maghugas ng kamay,

Sabuning mabuti

Alisan ng dumi,

Patayin ang peste
