Covid-19 cases in Northern Mindanao 'contained'

AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Health (DOH)-Northern Mindanao said the region has successfully contained and controlled the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases based on its data.

Dr. Adriano Suba-an, DOH-Northern Mindanao director, attributed the decrease of cases to the lockdown in the National Capital Region (NCR), where all forms of transportation has been suspended.

"As of this moment, I think we are able to successfully contain the Covid-19 cases kay pababa (cases) looking at the graphs we have," Suba-an said.

"Wala nay airplane gasulod so wala nay gaanhi sa ato...what we fear is the lifting of the lockdown, and the positive cases, some of them asymptomatic, will be coming here putting us at risk especially those immunocompromised," Suba-an said.

Suba-an urged the government and non-government agencies, especially the public to continue its efforts and cooperation to the guidelines to "sustain the successful containment of Covid-19 cases in Region 10."

While the trend of cases continue to go down, Suba-an said he is still not seeing the end of this crisis.

"The country is not seeing the end of it, tinuod nigamay ang PUMs, PUIs, kay ato man sila closely gimonitor kadtong naay history of travel sa places with most cases. We also have to consider nga naa pay cases sa lain kalibutan, that's why the President will extend the lockdown to April 30 para dili mokalat," he said.

Meanwhile, Suba-an said that unlike in other areas, there is no health personnel in the region who tested positive of the Covid-19.

"Not a single of our health personnel nga na expose sa positive patient nga nagka-problema, walay nag positive, ibig sabihin we are able to protect give them protection para dili sila mataptan. We are thankful nga naningkamot sila di matakdan kay kung matakdan sila, makatakod pud sila sa uban and this will have a strong negative effect to our frontliners," he added.
