IN A bid to bring essential goods closer to Candabeños amid the home quarantine, the local government of Candaba partnered with business establishments to provide virtual services to people.

Mayor Rene Maglanque said pharmaceutical stores Mercury Drug and Southstar Drug, and grocery shop Puregold -- all operating within this town’s jurisdiction -- opened their delivery services through phone call orders.

For the pharmacies, Candabeños can order by calling 0917-990-5616 for Mercury Drug, and 0943-144-1336 or 0928-216-1880 for Southstar Drug, and will be delivered the following day by the local government.

Likewise, Puregold opened its phone lines via 0955-683-5779 and 0936-572-0951. Customers can place their orders per schedule of their barangays, and will also be delivered at the designated pick-up places at Salapungan Municipal Hall extension for the Kapampangan region, and Bahay Pare Munical Hall extension for the Tagalog region.

“This is to further encourage social distancing among Candabeños because, as we all know, it is one of the best ways to contain coronavirus. Through this, we are also able to minimize the supposed travel expenses of people,” Maglanque said.

Maglanque expressed gratitude of business establishments involved for heeding to the call of the local government to step up their services during this extraordinary time.

Aside from pharmacies and grocery, Maglanque was also able to encourage Landbank of the Philippines to install a mobile ATM to complement the lone machine in the town as the enhanced community quarantine has been extended to April 30, 2020.

“We understand the social effects brought about by the enhanced community quarantine so we are doing everything we can to ease the situation for the public,” he said.
