Stranded foreigners leaving via Dumaguete, Cebu airports

SOME of the foreigners stranded in Negros Occidental due to the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) have started leaving the province via Cebu and Dumaguete airports.

Jennylind Cordero, provincial tourism officer, said that as of Monday April 6, five British nationals left via Dumaguete and the Philippine Coast Guard brought them to Cebu last night.

Cordero also said about 20 nationals from Negros Island and Siquijor (British and German tourists) informed them Tuesday morning that they are now at Mactan waiting for the 10 a.m. flight to Manila.

Five Germans also left via Escalante/Tabuelan last night catching up with this morning’s flight to Manila assisted by Department of Foreign Affairs, she added.

A sweeper flight for French nationals will also take off from Dumaguete to Manila, Cordero also said.

She said that all the 100 nationals are from outside Bacolod City.

The numbers are high because the American nationals registered in Bacolod City, Cordero pointed out.

“Foreign nationals should get in touch with their embassies for repatriation schedules and should have a booked international flight and medical clearance,” she said. (TDE)
