PRO-COR Covid-19 frontliners to receive hazard pay

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) is now fast-tracking the smooth release of funds allocated for the hazard pay of police personnel rendering official duties as frontliners in the time of the Luzon-wide enhance community quarantine (ECQ).

Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-COR) director R’win Pagkalinawan said, “This is based on the available funds of the PNP since government agencies are directed to source out a hazard pay from its own available funds from the FY 2020 appropriations.”

At present, the PNP is coordinating with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for the availability of additional funds to complete the P500 as maximum pay for frontliners.

Brigadier General Pagkalinawan also appealed to all PRO-COR personnel to be guided accordingly with regards to the issuances pertaining to the grant of Covid-19 hazard pay.

“The PNP also made efforts in coordinating with the accredited private lending institutions with regard to the suspension of loan deductions in order to augment the financial capabilities of our personnel hence increasing their net take home pay which in turn will benefit their respective families especially during this crisis brought about by the pandemic,” Pagkaliniwan added.

Pagkalinawan also urged the public to refrain from posting and sharing unverified information showing a hazard pay computation of the PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology as these law enforcement agencies have not yet released their final computation of hazard pay.

“PRO-COR will go against those sending out fake news and unverified information particularly on social media as it tends to sow confusion among the public,” Pagkalinawan added.

The PNP said the uniform rate of P235 per day or a total of not more than P7,050 per month will be extended to all qualified personnel serving as frontliners in times of Covid-19.
