THE University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed) and St. Vincent General Hospital (SVGH) have assured the public that their hospitals are not charging patients for donated personal protective equipment (PPE).

In a statement released Tuesday, April 7, 2020, UCMed and SVGH said they will continue to hold themselves to the highest standards, "not only in healthcare, but in ethics and professionalism."

"The public can, therefore, trust that UCMed and SVGH will never betray the generosity of our donors, nor take advantage of our patients," the statement said.

It further stated that the donated PPE intended for medical personnel and ancillary staff "shall be used in accordance with the donor's intent" and has assured the public that equipment will never be charged to patients.

"UCMed and SVGH are one with the entire community in the fight against this pandemic. With the community's trust and cooperation, buoyed by the generosity of benevolent persons and groups, UCMed and SVGH, together with all of Cebu's hospitals, are confident that Cebu can and will overcome this crisis that we are facing."
