Covid-19 Quarantine Anthem

Covid-19 Quarantine Anthem

HELLO, and congratulations for surviving another day of self-isolation. Another day, another round-up of troubling coronavirus (Covid-19) news. There's no disputing that it's rough time for everyone right now.

While almost everyone's stuck at home, it is also the best time to rest those ears with some tunes to distance oneself from all the Covid-19 stuff.

Music fans around the world are passing on their online streaming playlists to get us get through this tense situation.

Spotify playlist "Covid-19 Quarantine Party," created by Alistair Ryan, is probably the perfect sum-up of how we are all feeling right now.

Grab those your headphones and take a listen.

Don't Stand So Close to Me - The Police

The 1980-hit of British new wave band the Police is a perfect jingle of Department of Health's (DOH) social distancing campaign.

Mask Off - Future

Correction: mask on, especially when going outside to prevent the spread of the virus. Just a public service reminder.

Work from Home - Fifth Harmony feat. Ty Dolla $ign

Work sucks, we all know that. But working from home is a little less "suck." Workloads might not be reduced, but hey, at least you're working free from the threats on the outside.

100 Bad Days - AJR

"A hundred bad days made a hundred good stories," AJR's opening chorus line for its upbeat yet contrasting message is a reminder that there will always be a reason for this quarantine we are undergoing. Hope we won't have to settle on a hundred day quarantine though.

Down with the Sickness - Disturbed

From the band name itself, it is disturbing to feel the slightest inconvenience of overthinking that whenever you cough, sneeze, or have diarrhea, or difficulty in breathing, you feel like you had one. Seriously, consult a doctor if you do have at least a single symptom.

Toxic - Britney Spears

Which is more toxic, the virus itself, or the worthless online posts, composed of irrelevant rants, fake news, and not to mention, the barangay officials who are either "epal" or missing in action in the ration good distribution. Kap, bekenemen.

All by Myself - Celine Dion

While it's witty and funny for some, for those who are under monitoring or positive with the virus, it is a solitude feeling that you are literally alone in the battlefield. No family, friends, or anyone could physically check on you.

It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) - R.E.M.

Admit it. Never had you ever felt that all this pandemic fuzz had made you think that this might be the end. BUT NO. For how many years, the world had managed to survive series of epidemics. With the advancement in medicine and technology, we will survive this mini-apocalypse.

Solitude is Bliss - Tame Impala

Self-isolation is not that bad. This ECQ is a blessing-in-disguise extended holiday. You get to catch up on things you weren't able to do during weekdays: sleep, watch movie, do household chores, and of course, pray.

Waiting for the End - Linkin Park

This won't be too long. Before you know it, we would all be waking up to the news that we have already "flattened the curve" or slowed down the rate of infection. Let's all be "positive" in spirit, but be "negative" from Covid. Hihi!
