DSWD turns over to Zamboanga City social amelioration fund

DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) director Fatima Caminan has turned over P582.59 million to the Zamboanga City Government as part of the first tranche of the national government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

The P582.59 million in check was received by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar when Caminan visited her Tuesday, April 7, in City Hall.

The first tranche SAP allocation is for the month of April.

Ivan Eric Salvador, DSWD regional information officer, said Wednesday there 116,518 identified beneficiaries of SAP in this city.

“The agency is doing its best to facilitate efficient implementation of the program to reach its rightful beneficiaries,” Salvador said.

Meanwhile, the city government has already starting the production of forms to be filed up by the 116,518 family-beneficiaries of the city.

The forms will be distributed to the intended beneficiaries as soon as the production is completed.

Under the program, the government will provide emergency subsidy of a minimum amount of P5,000 to a maximum of P8,000 a month for two months to each of the near poor, poor and informal sector families based on the Section 4(c) of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
