More national entries expected in 2nd Aguirre Negros Open chess tourney

EXPECT more big names in Philippine chess to come and compete in the 2nd Antonio Ivan S. Aguirre 2010 Negros Open Individual Chess Championship slated April 4-25 at the Lobby of the Top’s Plaza Bowling Lanes, 10th-Hilado Sts.,Capitol Shopping Center, Bacolod City.

The event, a 7-round Swiss System (1-hour-20 moves + 1 hour to finish-the-game) tournament is open to all residents of Negros Island and “guest players” from outside Negros, male or female, with no age limit nd is open to GMs, IMs, FMs and NMs.

Participants must know how to record games either in the Descriptive Enslish Notation (PK4 – PQB4) or Algebraid Notation (e4 – c5) and must bring their own chess sets and clocks.

The tournament is a project facilitated and sponsored by overseas-based Bacoleño chess patron and author, Mr. Antono Ivan S. Aguirre, CPA, CFE, CSI, MBA, a book author and martial arts instructor who likewise works with a foreign government together with fellow chess patron Mr. Kemal Karaseki.

A registration fee of P200 will be collected from every participant and deadline for registration is on or before 6:00 p.m. of Friday, April 2, at the tournament venue.

Jeremy Kirk Chavez; and for the 4th Runner-up P1,000 + 24-inch, four-legged “Knight’ trophy courtesy of Mr. Kemal Karaseki; and the 6th to 20th finishers will each receive chess sets with mats and bags courtesy of Mr. Demosthenes Glen Averia, Mr. Mr. Allan Pamplona and Mr. Don Niño Saantos.

Meanwhile, the top three scorers in the Female (Open) Category will receive the following: for 1st Place P700 + (Chess gold medal); for 2nd Place P500 + (Silver Chess Medal) and for 3rd Place P300 + Bronze Chess Medal).
