More than 10,000 employees from Central Visayas receive cash aid from DOLE

AS OF Tuesday, April 7, 2020, a total of 10,795 employees from 528 establishments in Central Visayas have received their P5,000 cash aid from the Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (Camp) of the National Government.

“That totalled to P53,975,000,” said Siaton Salome, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Central Visayas director.

The Camp is a safety net program offering financial support and employment facilitation to workers from private establishments that have adopted flexible work arrangements (FWAs) or temporary closure due to the quarantine brought about by the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Last March 17, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III signed Department Order 209 series of 2020, which stated that workers from the private sector that have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic are entitled to a one-time financial assistance equivalent to P5,000, which will be given in lump sum.

To avail of the Camp, affected establishments must submit their Establishment Report on Covid-19 and two months of company payroll prior to the FWA or temporary closure.

Top management (CEO and COO) of the affected companies cannot avail of the CAMP assistance.

Affected employees may get their aid through a remittance center.

"We partnered with M Lhuillier. For their concern on how do they get the Camp assistance, they may coordinate with the Dole Field Office concerned. In our website and (official) Facebook page, one can find the contact numbers," said Luchel Taniza, DOLE-Central Visayas information officer. (WBS)
