MAYOR Oscar Moreno lashed out at some doctors in Cagayan de Oro City for "undermining the efforts of the government" in the fight against the deadly coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Moreno was reacting to some doctors comments against the Department of Health (DOH), criticizing its statements and data on the number of Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro.

"I am very very much affected. Kabalo ko naa sa social media, naay mga doctor using aliases that undermine the efforts of the government. Maluoy ko sa gobyerno, look at our health workers, risking their lives in order to keep us safe sunod naay pipila nga professionals pa kunohay, undermining the efforts of government," Moreno said.

Moreno said these group of people are the same people advocating for a lockdown.

Moreno said their comments are "totally irresponsible" and warned that this may even be a crime.

"Naay panahon for demolition. This is not the time to play politics, we should be united, we should have a common agenda. Kung wala mo nalipay nga wala mag-lockdown, pag-lockdown mo sa inyong balay, mao na ang inyong contribution," he said.

On Tuesday, April 7, Cagayan de Oro's lone Covid-19 patient was discharged from the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) after recovering from the disease.

As of Thursday, April 9, there are two remaining Kagayanons who are considered under investigation (PUIs), 37 of them have completed the quarantine period and was cleared from the virus.

There are also 11 remaining persons from Cagayan de Oro who are considered persons under monitoring (PUMs) while 1,337 PUMs have completed their quarantine.

"We are not over the hump yet, we cannot say virus is behind us already. Di ta kumpyansa, pero ayaw sad, kadtong mga doktor, ayaw sad ninyo ug i-undermine ang paningkamot sa gobyerno simply because you want a lockdown," he said.
