CEBU Archbishop Jose Palma recognized during his homily Maundy Thursday, April 9, the frontliners who risked their lives for the safety of everybody.

Palma celebrated the 4 p.m. Mass of the Lord's Supper at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. It was attended by thousands of Catholic faithful via live streaming through Facebook, radio and television as Cebu City has been placed under enhanced community quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his homily, Palma urged the public to remember those who do great service and even risk their lives for the sake of others, especially those "who could not be home because they are there to protect and to make sure that all who stay at home will be safe and have food."

He also asked the people to continue to trust the Lord Jesus amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

"At this time, when we feel anxious, may we put our trust in Jesus, who is present in our midst in the Eucharist. May He continue to be our hope in this time of Covid-19," he said.

Palma said those who could not physically attend the Holy Week Masses and activities but join the celebration even through TV or online will still be glorified.
