Police nab 3 in anti-drug operations

THREE people, a former coast guard, were arrested while some P46,000 worth of illegal drugs seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis, the police said Thursday, April 9.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as follows: Adzar Ramerez Seguente, 30; Abdel-Aziz Julkanain, 35; and, Habir Ismael Adam, 36.

Duco said Seguente, a newly identified drug pusher, was arrested in possession of some P15,000 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and P200 marked money in a drug bust around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Suterville in the village of San Jose Gusu, this city.

Duco said seized from Julkanain were some P30,000 worth of suspected shabu, P200 marked money and a motorcycle when arrested around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday also at Sutterville, San Jose Gusu village, this city.

He said Julkanain is a member of the Philippine Coast Guard, who went on absence without official leave (Awol).

The police officer said Adam, a mechanic and newly identified drug pusher, was arrested around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday in Tigbalabag Village.

He said recovered from his possession were some P1,000 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money.

Duco added that formal charges are set to be filed against the suspects, who are detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
