DOH: Zamboanga City records another Covid-19 case

THE Department of Health (DOH) revealed Thursday, April 9, that one new case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has been recorded in Zamboanga City.

The DOH-Center for Health Development said there is now a total of 10 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Zamboanga Peninsula region.

Three of the 10 cases were recorded in the province of Zamboanga del Sur while the remaining seven in Zamboanga City.

However, two of the seven list for Zamboanga City are frontliners in Manila, but the DOH included them in the local list since their hometown is Zamboanga City.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, chairperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19, said the confirmed case is a 94-year-old female from Veterans Avenue with no history of travel.

Salazar said without elaboration that the patient is currently confined in a private hospital.

“Once again, we remind the public to please remain calm and to remain home. At this time, the best course of action to take is to stay home, maintain social distancing, and practice regular hand washing,” Salazar said.

Meanwhile, as of as April 7, this city has recorded 102 patients under investigation (PUI) and 3,743 persons under monitoring. (SunStar Zamboanga)
