THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) recorded a total of 567 quarantine violators who were arrested in the city with 267 cases filed before the court from March 20 to April 12.

DCPO director Police Colonel Kirby John Kraft said yesterday that DCPO has been in coordination with the local government unit to enforce the community quarantine guidelines set by the city.

Community quarantine guidelines were first implemented on March 19 and further elevated to enhance community quarantine (ECQ) starting April 4 to prevent the spread of the virus.

Of the total number, authorities apprehended 389 individuals violating curfew policy, 102 persons violating the liquor ban, while 76 individuals violating the social distancing policy and conducting mass gathering.

Under the ECQ, people are only allowed to go out from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and activities shall be limited to accessing basic necessities such as buying food or medicines and access to essential health service.

The City Government of Davao also adopted the 24-hour liquor ban in the city to discourage people from going outside their residences, which takes effect during the state of public emergency.

The EO prohibits the selling, serving and consumption of liquor or any alcoholic or intoxicating drinks in public areas, effective 6 p.m. of April 7.

“In this time of crisis, Covid-19 will not stop the Davao City police in performing its mandated task of serving and protecting the people,” Kraft said.

“Let this be a warning to those who will take advantage of the situation that we will run after them,” he added.

DCPO has deployed additional forces to man over 20 quarantine control points in the city and apprehend violators.

Meanwhile, authorities reminded the workers exempted under ECQ to prepare and immediately present ID or certificate of employment when passing at the control point to avoid inconvenience.

For Covid-19 related concerns, the Covid-19 Operations Center hotline is open 24/7. People can also report violators by calling 09175086548 and 09190711111 or by sending a text to 09063674671.

DCPO can also be reached through its Isumbong Mo kay CD Hotline at 09175086548 and 09175095386.
