Zero Covid-19 case in Davao in 3 days

THE Department of Health (DOH)-Davao said the region has reported zero cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) for three days since the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) has been implemented in the region.

During a virtual presser on Monday, April 13, DOH-Davao Assistant Director Dr. Lenny Joy Rivera said the zero cases were reported on April 6, April 10, and April 12.

"Three days na po tayo na walang po tayong confirmed cases na reported," she said.

On Sunday, April 12, Davao Region maintained 90 cases. Davao City, however, still has the greatest number of Covid-19 positive patients with 74 cases, followed by Davao del Norte with nine, Davao Oriental with three, Davao del Sur with two, and Davao de Oro with two. Only the province of Davao Occidental is Covid-19 positive-free in the region.

"Every day, we are releasing tracker ng ating Covid-19 cases. For last night, may total po tayo ng 90 confirmed cases with no new cases reported yesterday," she said.

She also said that 50 patients who were infected with respiratory disease have recovered.

DOH-Davao has also not recorded new deaths due to Covid-19 on April 12. The death toll remains at 15.

Rivera added that based on their cumulative data, they recorded a total of 23,625 patients under monitoring and as of Sunday night, 14,917 have been cleared.

For the specimen, a total of 1,685 specimens were processed by the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) molecular laboratory.

Of this number, 85 samples yielded positive results and 1,555 were negative, while the result of the remaining specimen is still pending.

There are only 26 patients positive for Covid-19 who are now being treated in the two state-run hospitals in the region, namely, SPMC in Davao City and Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City.

SPMC chief Dr. Leopoldo Vega likewise said that if Dabawenyos continue to observe social distancing, avoid mass gathering, wear masks, and change bad behaviors, the number of cases will continue to plummet.

He earlier cited that the current measures implemented by the local government units have been effective as lesser people are now admitted at SPMC due to Covid-19.
