THE newly organized Kalibo Food Security Task Force is investigating the alleged overpricing of agricultural commodities at the Kalibo Public Market.

Kalibo Councilor Matt Aaron De Guzman said he was instructed by Kalibo Mayor Emerson Lachica to led the task force.

"The task force was organized after Mayor Lachica received reports of alleged overpricing. This was done together with the agriculture sector and the Municipal Agriculture and Fisheries Council (MAFC)," he said.

Some vendors reportedly are taking advantage of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic to hike the prices of agricultural commodities, including vegetables, fruits and fish.

"We are planning to conduct inspection anytime soon at the market to determine who among the vendors are charging expensive agricultural commodities to their consumers," he said.
