Cuevas-Rañada: #StayAtHome. Save Lives.

MAYOR Oscar Moreno recently signed an Executive Order for the implementation of the Barangay Exit Pass Regulation to further limit the threat of Covid-19 transmission. It is about time!

Some of our fellow Kagay-anons are still not comprehending the gravity and seriousness of this pandemic. Nobody is spared from this virus. This disease does not discriminate no matter what your social status, political color, religious belief or ethnicity is. The primary purpose of this order is to improve the implementation of “Stay At Home” policy still imposed in our city.

It is high time that every barangay limits number of people that can go out and do only essential things outside their homes. This will control the spread of the virus since people’s movement is restricted and monitored. Now, we have to coordinate with our barangay officials on the process of securing this exit pass.

The intensity of this global pandemic affecting our country is no joke. Everyday, the number of confirmed cases continue to increase including the number of deaths. This is very alarming. This is a clear indicator that if we continue to be complacent and selfish, this pandemic will eat us alive. WE NEED TEAMWORK. Stop complaining and do our individual share. Our national and local government including the barangay officials are doing their best to fight this pandemic. All we need to do is heed to the call of “Stay At Home” and boost the morale of those people who are working for this country day and night to stop and contain this virus.

The media should likewise help in boosting everyone’s morale. Report news updates based on facts. Feature stories that are focused on “human interest” which are mostly complaints on the financial assistance and relief efforts of the government, does not contribute in limiting the widespread of the virus. This kind of reporting only triggers the untapped emotions of our kababayans in this very difficult time. All of us is one on this big virus-ship. We are all experiencing hardships, thus, what we need right now are inspiring stories.

I am asking the ordinary people who are at home to stop spreading “Fake News”, you are not helping at all. If you are a Filipino patriot, you should help in any way you can for our city to finally wipeout this disease. Let us put our confidence with our barangay officials, LGUs, and National Government who are mandated to protect us and save us from this pandemic.

And one last thing, don’t forget to wear a face mask whenever you step outside of your house. Ajah!
