THE coronavirus pandemic has wiped out the sporting landscape of the entire world with every major event or league being shelved or outright cancelled.

This includes 3x3 basketball with the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President’s Cup, which was supposed to open last March 29, also being indefinitely cancelled.

And because of the uncertainty that has enveloped any and all sports, club teams have been forced to either pay just a part of their players’ salaries or outright cut them.

However, Chooks-to-Go has assured the country’s top 3x3 players, which include Cebuano forward Leonard “Santi” Santillan, they will still be getting their monthly salaries. And they will continue to do so even if the enhanced community quarantine is further extended.

Also included in the national pool are Joshua Munzon, Alvin Pasaol, Dylan Ababou, Troy Rike, Karl Dehesa, Santi Santillan, Franky Johnson, Chris De Chavez, and JR Alabanza.

Santillan, a former standout of the University of the Visayas, is grateful for the continued support of Chooks-to-Go as he uses the salary to send money over to his family in Lapu-Lapu City.

“I am very grateful to Chooks-to -Go since they keep on supporting us and I’m the only one my family depends on,” Santillan said in Tagalog. “My father is on no-work, no-pay so they’re having a hard time.

Santillan is in Manila with his wife and son while his parents are in Cebu.

“That’s why I’m happy that I am able to help them because of the support from Chooks,” he said. (JNP)
