THE City Local Price Coordinating Council (CLPCC) of San Fernando once again conducted a monitoring activity on April 14, 2020. This time, among public market stalls selling agricultural goods such as fruits, vegetables, and meat products.

The monitoring was to ensure that market vendors are one with the city government in providing protection to the consumers, amidst the implementation of the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Mila Rivera, City Market Operations Division Chief, said that the activity involved the checking of prices and the inspection of weighing scales used by the vendors.

She also shared that while the province did not issue a price freeze order on agricultural commodities, San Fernando is adopting the measure that is applied in Metro Manila where local government units implemented a suggested retail price (SRP) scheme.

With this, CAVO will conduct a study on the factors that led to the price increase and coordinate with dealers.

It can be recalled that the council also conducted a price watch on medical supplies among major drugstores, pharmacies, and retailers in the city and in supermarkets and grocery stores for essential food and non-food products.

The CLPCC will regularly conduct monitoring activity every week. Also present during the activity were top officers and representatives from Business License and Permit Division, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, and Department of Trade and Industry. (PR)
