THE two bridges connecting the Cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue will be closed starting Monday, April 20, 2020.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan on Saturday, said that individuals will not be allowed to use the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge and the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, in light of the increasing number of confirmed cases of the new conornavirus in Cebu.
Expemted are individuals who bring essential goods to the city, frontliners, and those who are in emergency situations and need to undergo medical treatment.
Chan also prohibited individuals to cross to Olango Island. If an individual is a worker in the mainland of Lapu-Lapu City but a resident of Olango Island, they need to stay in the mainland. Frontliners, persons who bring essential goods and those in need of medical treatment are exempted from the order.
Donations for Olango Island residents from the mainland will be given to barangay officials or its receipients. Officials are responsible in its transportation and distribution in the island.
"Nauyonan sa tulo ka syudad, ang Cebu, Mandaue ug Lapu-Lapu, nga kung asa ka nagtrabaho, kinahanglan nga didto pod ka magpuyo. Kung ikaw taga-Lapu-Lapu unya sa Mandaue ka nagtrabaho, kinahanglan nga mohatag ang inyung kompanya og kapuy-an. Ang kompanya maoy moshoulder sa gasto. Mao usab ang sitwasyon kung nagpuyo ka sa laing lugar unya sa Lapu-Lapu ka nagtrabaho," Chan said.
To control the number of vehicles plying the streets of Lapu-Lapu, a number coding scheme will also be implemented in the city. Motorists will only be allowed to use their vehicles according to the last number of their plates.
Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, allowed to ply the streets are vehicles with odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9); on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday allowed are plates with even numbers (2,4,6,8,0).
Every Sunday, from 5:01 a.m. to 11:59 a.m., only vehicles with odd numbers are allowed on the streets, while from 12 p.m. to 9:59 p.m., only plates with even numbers are allowed.
Exempted from the number coding scheme are frontliners, government vehicles, government officials, government employees, police, military personnel and force multipliers, delivery vehicles of essential goods, vehicles of market vendors who are part of the Market-on-Wheels, other persons/establishments exempted by the mayor and those in who are in need of medical assistance.
A shopping coding scheme will also be implemented in the city to control the number of people in public markets and establishments selling essential items.
Individuals with quarantine passes ending in odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9) are allowed to visit markets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Quarantine passes ending in even numbers (2,4,6,8,0) can visit every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
On Sundays, from 5:01 a.m. to 11:59 a.m., individuals with quarantine passes ending in odd numbers are allowed. From 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., even numbers are allowed. (JGS)
