10,000 consumers qualify to benefit free electricity

MORE than 10,000 consumers of Pampanga III Electric Cooperative (Pelco-3) are qualified for a free electric consumption for the month of March.

Pelco-3, which services residential houses in Sto. Tomas, Minalin, San Simon, Apalit, Macabebe and Masantol towns, said some 10,453 consumers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic will benefit from the program.

Dubbed as "Pantawid Liwanag," the program aims to lessen the burden of residential homeowners whose primary sources of income and livelihoods have been severely disrupted by the onset of enhanced community quarantine.

The program is an initiative of the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA) and adopted by different power service providers across the country to show solidarity with the government’s efforts to curb the socioeconomic impact of the health problem to poor families.

Qualified for the Pelco-3's program are residential houses which utilized 50 kilowatts per hour or below for the month of April and have good standing or no arrears with their monthly electricity bills.

Eligible consumers will receive a coupon which they will present to their respective Pelco-3 offices for acknowledgement.

Aside from Pantawid Liwanag, Pelco-3 also provided a 30-day extension for the due dates of electricity bills that fall on March 18 to April 24, 2020.
