COMMONLY, food aids are comprised of canned goods, noodles, chows and beverages that are packed in sachets. These are convenient and can withstand the possibility of getting spoiled or damaged. But there were some local leaders who thought of providing food assistance to their constituents such as chickens, fresh fishes, and vegetables among others.

It’s their way of letting their recipients savor healthier foods than the canned goods and noodles that are rich in preservatives. Hinoba-an Councilor Jason T. Tupas introduced “Fishda” to his constituents by providing them fresh fishes as his way of addressing their hunger pangs even for a meal or two. He roamed around their community with his pickup vehicles loaded with fresh fishes.

“I hope they are happy to have fishes that taste good and healthy especially when cooked as fish tinola or grilled fish.

Meanwhile, Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon, III also provided 45-day old chicken to 40,000 thousand of his constituents in 25 barangays, as a way of helping them in time of the coronavirus pandemic.

Each family has two chickens or 80,000 chickens all in all. They dubbed their relief assistance program as “Manok for all”.

While they helped the needy, they also helped chicken breeders.

Truly a little thinking out of the box will go a long way in public service. Kudos to all innovative local leaders!
