San Simon LGU distributes 1.7 tons of rice during ECQ

IN A bid to assist its people during this onset of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), the local government here continues to distribute relief goods to the 14 barangays of San Simon town.

According to Mayor Abundio Punsalan, Jr., the local government has already distributed about 1,720 tons of rice as it ends its second wave of relief distribution over the weekend.

Punsalan said the said relief goods is able to feed the 17,000 families in the municipality for two weeks now.

“Each family receives five kilos of rice each, aside from canned goods and meat that we also able to give out through the help of our generous donors from the government and private sector,” he said.

Punsalan said he is personally leading the relief distribution to ensure that all his constituents receive what is due to them, and also check on their situation.

“I ask what more do they need that the local government can provide so that the next time we visit them, we can give additional, if possible,” he said.

Punsalan also assured Simonians that the local government is ready to assist them until the extended enhanced community quarantine is expected to be lifted by end of April.

“We have enough funding to aid Simonians until the end of this month and should the lockdown be extended, we will find ways to expand our budget of course,” he said.
