ALL police stations in Iloilo Province have set up the so-called "Bayanihan Kiosks" to motivate community sharing of food and goods during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), which has been implemented due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Bayanihan Kiosks are open for all members of the community who are willing to share anything they have, especially essential goods, to help their neighbors who are in need.

Bearing a slogan "Bulig Mo, Kabuhi Ko," the Bayanihan Kiosk is an innovative effort to encourage community sharing and support amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Iloilo police chief Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas said the Bayanihan Kiosk is a big help as it helps address the depleting food provision, most especially of poor families whose source of livelihood was affected by the ECQ.

"We are calling the Ilonggos to share whatever they have in excess through the Bayanihan Kiosks to help their neighbors in need," Lucas said.

Lucas appealed to the Ilonggos to share their extra rice, noodles, canned goods, dried fish, condiments, and even alcohol and hand sanitizers, among others.

"If they have livestock or vegetables that they want to share, they are welcome to our Bayanihan Kiosks," he said.

A total of 47 Bayanihan Kiosks were simultaneously opened on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Anyone is free to get what they need from the kiosks.

Lucas said the kiosks will continue to operate as long as there is support from the Ilonggos. (SunStar Philippines)
