Mayor on possible lifting of Luzon’s travel restrictions: Are we ready?

CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno raised concerns on the possibility of the lifting of travel restrictions in Manila as the national government decides on the fate of the Luzon lockdown anytime soon.

Moreno said while this move results to renewed economic activity, Cagayan de Oro, including Mindanao might not be ready for it.

“Ang akong kabalak-an i-lift ang travel restrictions sa Manila, okay lang because it will result to renewed activity napud. Pero pananglitan open na ang flights, resume na ang barko, are we ready for that? Mao na akong kabalak-an,” Moreno said in a press conference Wednesday, April 22.

Moreno however said he is confident that President Rodrigo Duterte will make a calibrated action, such as ensuring that the virus is contained.

Duterte is set to decide on Thursday, April 23, whether to extend the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine or not.

This after Duterte had a consultation on Monday with health experts on possible actions the government might take.
