Smart Head junior tennis tourney kicks off in CDO

THE best of the region's tennis players will battle for honors as the Smart Head Junior Tennis Tour Satellite Circuit kicks off its 2010 season with the Cagayan de Oro City leg on March 27 to 31.

Former World Junior campaigner Juan Paolo Cansino and Palarong Pambansa-bound Jenni Dizon of Davao City along with Davao Oriental's Jeleardo Amazona, Pantua brothers of General Santos City and Rogelio Estanio, Jr. of Parang, Maguindanao are among the heavy favorites expected to in their respective categories.

Organizer Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) regional vice president Juanito "Titong" Cansino, Jr. said the annual tour features the 10-under unisex, boys and girls 12-under, 14-under, 16-under and 18-under categories where the champions and runners-up will receive trophies and tennis merchandise as prizes.

From Cagayan de Oro, he said the next stop will be in Zamboanga City set on April 5 to 7 then off to Digos City on April 10 to 12, Davao City on April 15 to 17, Lapu-Lapu City on April 20 to 23, Cebu City on April 24 to 27, Panglao, Bohol on April 29 to May 2, Dumaguete City on May 4 to 6, Bacolod City on May 8 to 10, Iloilo City on May 12 to 15, Baguio City on May 18 to 21 and concluding in Metro Manila on May 24 to 30.

Registration is P300 per entry in the netfest presented by Smart, Chris Sports, Meralco, Head official ball and Toalson. (MLSA)
