Man nabbed in check-up point for illegal drugs, firearms

A 42-YEAR-OLD man was arrested by operatives of Police Station 10 in a check-up point at Zone 12, Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City for violation of illegal drugs and illegal firearms Wednesday evening.

Police identified the suspect as Rene Dequena, of Purok Kingfisher, Barangay 16, Bacolod.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the policemen, assigned in a check-up point in the area, flagged down the suspect, who was on board a motorcycle, to check the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) pass at about 10:30 p.m.

Police recovered from Dequena’s possession a .357 revolver loaded with four live ammunition, a small plastic sachet of shabu, coin purse, drug paraphernalia, wallet containing P1, 199 cash, cellular phone, ECQ pass, and motorcycle.

Pico said the suspect was also identified as 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) beneficiary.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 10 and facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2000, and RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Meanwhile, a total of 18 persons in Bacolod City were arrested by BCPO for violating curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Pico said the violators were arrested by personnel of Police Stations 2, 4, 8, and 10.

The violators were given a warning and were released. (MAP)
