THE Casa Agrarian Reform Cooperative (CARC) at Barangay Concepcion in Talisay City provided rice supply and distributed share of dividends to its members and other non-agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) recently.

A total of P10,590 worth of rice was given to the 65 recipients, both members and non-members who were all working on the farm, on top of the P19,000 in patronage refund.

DAR-Negros Occidental, in a statement, said the activity aims to aid the farmers who are affected of the ongoing enhanced community quarantine which resulted to farm inactivity.

It said that in the middle of the unprecedented battle against coronavirus disease (Covid–19), an association with limited resources has recognized the need of others and initiated to share part of their income to farmers.

“Such a humble act of selflessness is a reminder that the bayanihan spirit is alive and the Filipino resiliency is unbendable whatever difficult scenarios will arise,” it added.

CARC is an agrarian reform cooperative with a total of 23 member-ARBs that manages the 38.40-hectare land acquired under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp).

The association’s main crop is sugarcane. It is also diversifying into banana and coconut production, and a diverse number of fruit trees.
