Road project on schedule

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte -- With already 84 percent over-all completion, the Metro Iligan Regional Infrastructure Development Project (MIRIDP), the biggest infrastructure project in the province, remains on schedule for its June 2010 full completion target.

On March 18, representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica), Hanjin Construction Company, Oriental Consultants and Lanao del Norte Provincial Government conducted a site visit at Segment 3 situated in Kauswagan, Delabayan and Munai; Segment 2 located in Linamon, Matungao and Balo-I; and Segment 1 covering part of Balo-I, Tagoloan and Fatima.

“We are very pleased that Hanjin responded well to the call of our funding agency (JICA) to speed up their construction to beat the deadline,” said Dennis Aguipo, MIRIDP-Project Management Office project director.

Aside from Aguipon, the inspection team were composed of Flery Chan, senior project officer of Jica; Nagaishi Masafumi, senior representative of Jica; Yamamoto Masashi, Mindanao representative of Jica; Kazuyoshi Saito, project manager of Oriental Consultant; the project manager of Hanjin Construction; and Engr. Juliet Amas, MIRIDP acting project manager.

“All the major components are already finished. Now, only a small portion of the road network, drainage and slope protection remains to be completed by the contractor,” said Chan.

The completion of the MIRIDP is set to catalyze the economic development of the municipalities covered by its implementation especially the interior towns of Lanao del Norte. (Press release)
