Pangan: Eventful episodes at HOA

THE fiesta communities Tabun Homeowners Association (HOA) is one organization where intramurals on positions take place.

Taking over Rozel Kaye Hernandez as president on November 2, 2019, I was recently urged to step down and resign by a lady board member. In order to solve this situation, I declared as vacant all positions -- president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and auditor in a special meeting on April 11, 2020, a Saturday. A board resolution was made to support the move, in accordance with the association's by-laws and Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board's guidelines. A run-off election was then held. Replaced were this writer as president, Dennis dela Cruz, vice president, Aidez R. dela Cruz, secretary, Marydoll B. Corilla, treasurer and Angelina Isais, auditor.

The new officers elected in the run-off election held April 11, 2020 were: Alfredo Ramos, president, Angelina O. Isais, vice president, Benjamin R. Pangan, secretary, Cesar Pangan, treasurer and Rodolfo Monis, auditor.

The previous officers Aidez R. dela Cruz, Marydoll B. Corilla and Angelina O. Isais did not welcome and accept the results of the run-off election and in a gesture of disgust, tendered their irrevocable resignations dated April 13, 2020 addressed to me as the sitting president of the association.

In response, I answered that the board of directors took cognizance of their irrevocable resignations and urged them to turn over records, monies, documents and other paraphernalia to their respective successors in office.

As a sidelight to the results of the run-off election, former treasurer Marydoll B. Corilla filed an appeal letter dated April 13, 2020 alleging, among other things, that she disagreed with the results saying that there is no legal basis for such run-off election.

Before said run-off election, I made a speech lamenting the disorder in the behavior of some BODs and so, I declared all the positions as vacant. Everyone then present, including Corilla, agreed so the election pushed through resulting in the removal from office of Corilla, Aidez dela Cruz and Isais and the installation of their replacements, Cesar Pangan, Benjamin R. Pangan and Rodolfo Monis.

With the resignation of Angelina Isais as vice president, the remaining BODs comprising a majority, brought out the idea of re-installing former vice president Dennis dela Cruz as vice president again replacing Isais.

Such is the colorful and eventful happening at HOA. It is a virtual politician game where everyone has a "political" game plan and ambition! Whew!
