THE Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Central Luzon has provided emergency employment to 10,375 workers in the region.

Displaced, seasonal, underemployed workers and other marginalized individuals were hired under Dole's "Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers" or Tupad.

Meanwhile, informal workers and self-employed individuals affected by the enhanced community quarantine were also given aid under the "Tupad Barangay Ko, Bahay Ko Disinfection Project" or #BKBK.

According to DOLE-Central Luzon Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita, of the 10,375 beneficiaries, 5,697 completed their work before the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was implemented in the region.

The other 4,678 completed their assigned tasks under the Tupad #BKBK program.

The beneficiaries worked for four hours a day in a 10-day period and were paid with the regional minimum wage of P420 a day or a total of P4200 for ten days.

All the workers-beneficiaries received their pay during the ECQ period through site/direct payment or money remittance.

The financial assistance is part of the national government's Social Amelioration Program (SAP) under "Republic Act 11469" or the "Bayanihan to Heal as One Act."
