CORONAVIRUS disease has sent everyone to our respective homes in adherence to the government’s regulation to subject everyone to an Enhanced Community Quarantine in Bacolod City to the expanse of the Province of Negros Occidental last March 14 up to April 30.

Bacolod City officials have seriously considered extending the ECQ to May 15 in order to ensure public health. But this will still depend on the approval of President Rodrigo R. Duterte upon the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force against Coronavirus Disease under the Office of the President.

Given the active nature of the people, locking us all in our homes have caused various effects in our mental, physical, and emotional conditions, and agonizing from boredom is an unavoidable ordeal.

Now, let’s journey with those who got bored by the ECQ but found their ways of dealing with it reasonably founded on what they normally like and love to do.

Architect Roberto T. Aguillon said he fights boredom with meditation, playing scrabble and having a movie marathon.

Rose Jessica Octaviano said she also immersed herself by watching movies, read books, and eat often.

Jeffrey Javines likes to wear his old costumes, do a physical workout, engage in recording his acting modes and laughing with friends through Facebook.

For those who would like to reconnect with their spirituality, attending online mass every morning can be a good idea, say Rodina Salvador who also does her home duties such as cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, watches tv-shows and news, eat, and pray before she retires to bed. This was seconded by Luna Escalona who also hears online mass cooks for his two sons France and Allan, Jr. and husband Allan, Sr.

Other than cooking and attending online mass, Broadcast journalist Chona Gosiaoco also added praying the Rosary and then do her audio-video recordings and editing as her routine everyday.

Exercise by taking leisure walk at the premises of their house is something Carmen Jayohin enjoys.

Cooking for family members can be fun too said Sigrid Lo, blogger.

Betina Akino said she reads the Bible, fellowship with her family and friends on Facebook, watch tv shows, watch movies, calls her friends and loved ones, order food online, among others.

Teresa Ellera, broadcast journalist, said her routine is to eat, work, watch movies, tv shows, listen to music, do the gardening, and cleaning her fingernails among others.

Marq Herrera and his partner do the gardening.

“But I usually paint when I get bored. I keep myself busy when I feel sad, stressed, and anxious. I likewise play my favorite vinyl to loosen up,” he said.

This means that despite the boredom as ever-present, people can still endure it with a little imagination and a lot of passion for your craft.
