LLP skips international events

THE Little League of the Philippines (LLP) is putting safety first as it called off all its competitions this year as well as skipping international tournaments.

This was confirmed by Chito Gonzalez, LLP assistant district administrator, adding that it already canceled the Philippine Series as well as the skipping the Asia Pacific competitions, and the World Series.

Earlier, LLP canceled regional legs for North and South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were supposed to be hosted by Iligan City for North Luzon with participating charters from CAR (Cordillera Administrative Region), Region 1 (Ilocos Region), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) and Region 3 (Central Luzon) while Tanauan City for South Luzon with participating charters from National Capital Region, Region 4-A (Calabarzon), Region 4B (MIMAROPA), and Region 5 (Bicol Region); Dumaguete City for Visayas leg with charters from Region 6 (Western Visayas), Region 7 (Central Visayas), and Region 8 (Eastern Visayas); Alabel in Saranggani for the Mindanao leg with participants from the charters of Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), Region 10 ( Northern Mindanao), Region 11 (Davao Region), Region 12 (Soccsksargen), Region 13 (Caraga Region) and ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao).

The top 2 teams of each division were supposed to qualify for the 2020 Little League Philippines Series National Finals which champions would have progressed to the Asia Pacific Series, and the winner takes spot to the World Series in the United States in August.

Gonzalez also stressed that it remains uncertain about what will be the guidelines for international travel and have to wait until everything settles down.
