Masantol town sets Covid-19 isolation facility

DESPITE having zero confirmed case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), the local government in Masantol town in Pampanga set up an isolation facility as part of its preventive measures.

The local government converted the evacuation center in Barangay Bebe Anac into community isolation facility by installing safety partitions.

Mayor Danilo Guintu on Monday, April 27, inspected the facility to check on its compliance to the protocol set by the Department of Health.

Guintu said they set up 15 beds in isolated cubicles in the said facility which will temporarily house suspected cases with mild symptoms for close-monitoring of the Municipal Health Office.

“We will isolate suspected cases with mild symptoms in the facility so the local health workers can easily monitor them and be able to quickly implement necessary measures when needed,” he said.

It also has a consultation room, disinfection area, and bathroom, as well as a kitchen and laundry area to better accommodate the patients, the mayor added.

A solar panel is also installed and a power generator is on standby in the area to ensure the continuous operation of the facility if it will be needed.

However, Guintu clarified that the facility was set up as a pre-emptive measure as there is no Masantoleño who needed to be isolated due to Covid-19 yet.

As of Monday afternoon, Masantol has zero probable case and three suspected cases who were on home quarantine.

“This is just a preparation in case we’ll need it to contain the virus but we are hopeful we’ll never need it and keep our municipality free from Covid-19,” he said.

Masantol is among the four municipalities in Pampanga who have not reported a confirmed case of Covid-19 along with Arayat, Minalin and San Luis.
