UP-Baguio Summer Arts workshop set

THE annual Summer Arts Extension Program of the University of the Philippines’ College of Arts and Communication in Baguio is set on April 5 to 10.

The regular workshops on visual arts and language and communication skills will be held in concurrent sessions on the said six-day period.

The morning sessions of four separate areas in Visual Arts, which will be held simultaneously from 9 a.m. to noon, include workshops on (a) Basic Drawing and Illustration; (b) Crafts for kids (seven to 11 years old); (c) Basic Drawing and Illustration; and (d) Basic Sculpture for teens and adults (12 years old and above).

The afternoon sessions of another four separate areas in Visual Arts, which will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. are (e) Water-based Painting; (f) Basic Tie-dye Painting for kids; (g) Basic Print-making; and (h) Basic Oil Painting for teen and adults.

The workshop on language and communication skills include separate workshops on script-writing for Film, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Voice and Diction from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Output works from the six-day workshop will be exhibited at the awarding ceremonies on the last day. The registration fee is P1,500, excluding the materials.

In addition to the regular workshops, the Fine Arts Training Program is also set on the same period.

This is the first time that such program will be conducted to provide a supplementary training for high school graduates intending to apply to the Fine Arts Program of UP-Baguio whose Talent Determination Test is scheduled on April 17.

The training includes separate workshops on Basic Drawing Techniques from 9 a.m. to noon, and Visual Composition from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop fee of P2,500, excluding materials.

A lecture-forum on teaching literature recommended for elementary and secondary school teachers will also be held on April 9. Lectures on teaching Creative Non-Fiction and Novel will be held at 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event is open to the public and is free of charge.

Early registrants will receive 10-percent discount.

UP students, faculty and staff and their dependents can avail of a 20 percent discount.
