THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has given local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon four days to finish the pay out of P6,500 cash aid to poor families affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

DILG gave the four-day deadline to LGUs and social workers in Pampanga, Aurora, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Zambales.

Meanwhile, Bulacan province is given until May 7 to complete the distribution.

“Finished or not, they have to submit their liquidation report to the DSWD. The said report is one of the prerequisites [for] the downloading of funds for the second tranche [of the P6,500 financial assistance],” Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Luzon (DSWD 3) Public Information Officer Reiner Gorospe said.

Gorospe said, as of April 30, the DSWD has given the P6,500 emergency subsidy to 57 percent of 1.8 million beneficiaries in the region. They include recipients of the 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program).

The money is provided under the Social Amelioration Program of the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act or Republic Act No. 11469.”

As of April 30, the recipients totalled 856,790 families, receiving P5.5 million.

In Aurora, the families counted 30,092; Bataan, 20,087; Bulacan, 275,425; Nueva Ecija, 247,140; Pampanga, 135,167; Tarlac, 116,895; and Zambales, 31,984.

Marites Maristela, DSWD regional director, said the same beneficiaries will receive the same amount in the second wave of cash aid.
