CONCEPCION, Tarlac -- The online palengke of the Municipal Government of Concepcion is now fully functional.
“Our online palengke, which can be accessed through https://palengke.xyz, offers goods wherein prices are similar with that of the market price, and ships products for free,” Mayor Andy Lacson said.
It is an eCommerce site aimed at reducing the movement of people in the town as well as provide livelihood to public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers who were greatly affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
“20 PUJ drivers paid by the Municipal Government were tapped to deliver the goods ordered through the site,” Lacson added.
PUJ drivers also deliver goods from the supermarkets to sari-sari store owners availing in wholesale.
At present, wholesalers and frontline workers are the only ones allowed to be in the town proper of Concepcion.
Sari-sari store owners who wish to avail goods personally in the supermarkets are adhering to the market schedule.
“We remain particular with the preventive measures we’re undertaking to address and ensure the safety of our constituents in this crisis,” Lacson said. (PIA-Central Luzon)
