Former bodyguard killed in Hinigaran

A SEXAGENARIAN and former aide of some prominent personalities in Southern Negros was killed in a shooting incident in Sitio Cabubuan, Barangay Pilar, Hinigaran by two unidentified suspects on May 2.

The victim was identified as Mariano Salazar, 60 years old and a resident of Pantalan Da-an, Barangay One of the same town.

Based on the investigation conducted by the Hinigaran PNP, the victim was driving his Kawasaki Bajaj motorcycle on his way home from Sitio Tanulo, Barangay Pilar and when he reached the area he was shot twice by an unidentified suspect onboard an unidentified getaway vehicle that caused his immediate death.

Recovered from the crime scene were two fired cartridges of calibre .45 pistol, a calibre .45 pistol, three calibre .45 magazines loaded with twenty-three live ammunition, a folding knife and a cellular phone.

The police are still investigating the real motive behind the killing.

Meanwhile, another sexagenarian was found dead at Gan Pukatod, Barangay 2, La Carlota City on May 2.

The victim was identified as Juanito Yson, 65 years old and a resident of said place.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was discovered dead by his nephew inside their house. Further investigation showed that the victim died of asthma. The victim was recently discharged from the hospital on April 20. No indication of foul play was found, the police report indicated.
