DENR calls for entries on ocean photo contest

THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Luzon is calling on senior high school or college student and currently enrolled in any school or university in Central Luzon to join this year’s Month of the Ocean Photography Contest.

The contest is open to entries taken before the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine. Registration is free. For further details, you interested students may visit bit.ly/MooPhoto2020 and Month of the Ocean - DENR R3, or may contact us at denr3.moo@gmail.com. Deadline of submission of entry is on or before 22 May 2020.

May is the “Month of the Ocean” (MOO) under Presidential Proclamation No. 57 of 1998. It is celebrated every May of each year, because this month is the peak of fishing season in the Philippines.

In Central Luzon, the more than 7,000-hectare Masinloc-Oyon Bay Protected Seascape (MOBPS) is an important marine protected area and home to unique and diverse marine species that supports the life and livelihood of coastal communities in Zambales.

This year’s MOO theme “Para sa Tao: Protected Area for Protected Future” underscores the important role of marine protected areas in sustaining life.
