AROUND 82,000 public teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education(DepEd)-Central Visayas are set to receive their 13th month pay on May 15, 2020, Salustiano Jimenez, DepEd 7 director said.
"Actually, ready na ang 13th month pay o gitawag nato nga mid-year bonus sa atong teachers. It will be released not earlier than May 15. So, ready na daan. By May 15, ma release nana siya," he told SunStar Cebu on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
Moreover, he said, the teachers' salary for the month of May is already being processed this week.
The teachers' salary for the month of May is a proportional vacation pay (PVP), he added. This is the compensation teaching personnel received during Christmas and summer vacation which is computed in proportion to the number of days they have served during the school year.
"This time, nadugay ang guidelines kay naghuna-huna pa man gud og kanus-a magsugod og report ang teachers kay that's the end of the computation sa ilang PVP," he added.
"It so happened that based on the statement of Education Secretary Leonor Briones, nga basin magsugod ang klase by August, though maghuwat pa ta sa issuance, our teachers will have to report by June 1," he added.
He also said within this month or by the first week of June at the latest, public school teachers in the region can received their cash allowance worth P3,500. Cash allowance was previously called the teacher's chalk allowance.
The regional office is also currently following up the release of the fund for the teachers' 2018 performance-based bonus, he added. (WBS)
