KALIBO, Aklan -- The Provincial Health Office (PHO) announced on Tuesday, May 5, one new case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the province, bringing the total number of cases to seven.
Dr. Cornelio Cuachon of the PHO said the new case is one of the 37 seafarers who were recently repatriated.
The new Covid-19 case in the province came after a month with no case reported, or since April 5.
"We note that results of the 37 seafarers is not yet completed. We were just informed that they (Regional Health Department) found one Covid-19 positive among the 37 specimens we submitted last week," Cuachon said during a press conference in Kalibo Tuesday noon, May 5.
The new Covid-19 case is a resident of Barangay Mambog in Banga town.
Cuachon also announced that the 68-year-old coronavirus-positive patient in the province has recovered.
"We expect that the 68 years old patient will be discharged [from] the hospital tomorrow," Cuachon added. (SunStar Philippines)
