Kings gun for 2nd win vs. SLR

MANILA—The Ginebra Kings will again lean on import Awvee Storey as they seek their second straight win when they face Sta. Lucia Realty Friday in the 35th Philippine Basketball Association Fiesta Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.

A win today will put the Kings on top of the standings.

Storey, 33, a 6’5” guard and forward from Arizona State University, fired 33 points on top of 16 rebounds to lead the Kings’ 97-90 win over Talk ‘N Text during the opening day.

“He is not flashy but he is an all-around player. He’s got a little of everything,” said Ginebra coach Jong Uichico.

The Tropang Texters, with veteran Shawn Daniels at the helm, will try to bounce back when they face Rain or Shine at 5 p.m.

Rain or Shine, which will be reinforced by the come-backing Jai Lewis, is hoping for another fruitful campaign. The 6’6” Lewis, a teammate of Gabe Norwood at George Mason University, carried the team to its first ever semifinal stint last year.

Coach Caloy Garcia will also be relying on Fil-Ams Norwood, Solomon Mercado and Allan Salangsang.
