NMMC records more deaths

The Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) recorded more deaths anew, one of them a coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patient.

Dr. Bernard Rocha, NMMC medical officer, said four patients died over the past 24 hours.

Among them is an 18-year-old male who died due to urinary tract infection (UTI) complication and community acquired pneumonia.

Another is a 13-year-old male and a 56-year-old female who have both undergone brain surgery, the latter, developed a pneumonia.

The fourth case is the 61-year-old female Covid patient from Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City who died due to acute respiratory failure and Covid-19 complications.

Also, on Wednesday, May 6, at 12:50 a.m., the 21-year-old Covid patient succumbed to the virus after weeks of fighting for his life.

Meanwhile, the NMMC also disclosed that one of its doctors and eight other patients who were exposed to the 21-year-old patient tested negative for the virus.

It can be recalled that over 100 health workers, rescuers and the 21-year-old’s family members are quarantined for exposure of the patient. (PJO)
