DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) is exercising maximum tolerance in dealing with quarantine violators amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

DCPO Director Kirby John Kraft said that barely two months since the community quarantine was implemented, there has been no violent resistance coming from Dabawenyos on any of the quarantine provisions.

He commended the Dabawenyos for being cooperative to frontline police officers who are on the ground to ensure the policies of quarantine are in a place unlike in other areas where commotion happened while resisting authorities.

“Meron verbal resistance usually mga lasing pero negative po physical resistance. Very minimal lang sila. Palasunod naman mga taga Davao (Davao residents follow the rules),” Police Colonel Kraft said.

On May 6, SunStar Davao posted a video of a man who attacked law enforcers in Bankerohan Public Market in Davao City and was later captured by personnel of San Pedro Police Station.

Kraft said the man was mentally challenged. The man reacted after he was called out due to quarantine violations.

As of Thursday, May 7, Kraft said the man was turned over by PS2 to the Davao City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO).

He emphasized that the policemen who responded to the scene pacified the violator correctly.

“Wala namang violation sa pag subdue sa tao kasi violente na siya at hindi sya sinaktan,” Kraft said.
