Sungduan: OFWs Operation Covid-19

AN OVERSEAS Filipino worker (OFW) based in Israel has found a way to help his fellow Ifugaos specifically the municipality where he came from amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic crisis.

Carlos Lagguy established the OFWs Operation Covid-19 with the help of fellow OFWs around the globe to raise funds for the benefit of the residents of Asipulo, Ifugao.

Lagguy narrated that when he broached the idea though Facebook and messenger, immediately the respond was overwhelming.

One of those who supported the cause is Nora Dag-o, an OFW from Malta who is also encouraging all kailians working abroad to be part of the noble project.

To ensure the success of the distribution of relief goods, they coordinated with the Hojap Multipurpose Cooperative who purchased the needed items. Meanwhile, the youth in the town volunteered to help in the packing and distribution of the relief which include rise, sugar, salt, soy, canned goods, vegetables, and others.

At least four barangays benefitted from the outreach operation: 460 households from Barangay Haliap, 280 households in Barangay Pannubtuban, 280 households in Barangay Pula, and 271 households in Barangay Antipulo.

Lagguy appealed for the continuous support of OFWs to the said project which aims to provide help to those who needed help most in Ifugao.

He also expressed his deep gratitude to all who made the OFWs Operation Covid-19 in Asipulo successful.

May there be more who will support this outreach activity to help more needy community in the region in this time of crisis.
