Exec: Dishonest SAP recipients may face charges

THE Mabalacat City Resource Operations Center (MCROC) has warned that recipients of cash aid under the social amelioration program (SAP) may face criminal charges if they declared false information about their status and living condition during the validation of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

MCROC chief Carlo Costales they are planning to file charges against individuals who lied to DSWD validators to get the national government’s Covid-19 cash assistance.

“E na naman buring sabyan uling tinggap me ing pera yari na ing pisasabyan ta. Karakal pu ngening mamanyubling pera kasi po post mi keng Facebook. E porket sibli e ala nakang pananagutan. You received the money without telling us the truth (it doesn’t mean you received the money, there’s no more discussion. There are many returning the money but it doesn’t mean you returned it you have no more issues),” Costales said

He admitted that the validation of beneficiaries is not perfect.

Costales cited examples including beneficiaries of the 4Ps conditional cash transfer who deliberately concealed the truth.

Barangays are required to post their respective lists of SAP beneficiaries after the completion of the first tranche, Costales said.

The MCROC is set to release a masterlist of all SAP beneficiaries in the entire city.

He encouraged the people to report all complaints with regards to the implementation of SAP to the council starting on Monday.

“Don’t worry, we have time for your complaints and we will try our best to resolve and address them,” Costales told the residents.

As of yesterday, some individuals reportedly returned SAP money but the motive of their act is not clear.

Mabalacat City has an estimated household of 75,000 and its allocation from the DSWD SAP is only for 30,425 families, according to Costales.
