IT IS never enough to give thousands of PPE (personal protective equipment) for the increasing number of volunteers who are attending to a growing number of Covid-19 inflicted patients. We need more.

The Zonta Clubs of Cebu 1 and 2 have been helping the frontliners of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Cebu City Medical Center and selected barangays. Hotels and restaurants are equally involved in giving or offering food at affordable prices. Like, the packed meals of Golden Prince Hotel and Suites, which we shared with some volunteers. Some schools of medicine have been providing varied assistance to their doctors and nurses, and opened facilities when necessary. Bravo to our doctors and nurses—our selfless frontliners!

Benedicto College is housing some teachers who were caught in the lockdown. They occupy some rooms in the new school building. The women of Budlaan, Cebu earned a little for their basic needs after being asked by Zontians to sew masks and protective garment. They raised vegetables and sold them, too.

During crucial situations, we need worthy improvisations to survive. We think of the brighter side of life.

Mother Earth is still beautiful. I see this in the captured landscapes of Amara by my friend Nelia Neri posted on social media. Her photos have elicited interactions among friends amazed at the natural wonders of creation. We see how beautiful nature is. Oh, the awesome trees, the deep blue sea, the birds and the vast skies. I never realized how beautiful Amara is. The flower gardens of Pinky Chang and Bee Smith, the bougainvilleas of the Muntuertos are as equally delightful.

Then, our local performers shared their music through social media as well. Holy Masses and Holy Rosaries strengthen our faith. Then, we sleep restfully.

Ah, when do we wake up from the nightmare of Covid-19? Soon enough, yes. Soon, with God’s blessings.
