THE Patrol party-list group on Tuesday, May 12, denied having a staff named Javier Castro, the boyfriend of former beauty queen Maria Sesaldo Gigante.

The group also said it does not issue any authorization letter to any individual with regards to the distribution of relief goods.

Besides, the group said its relief operations are focused on Central Luzon, not on Cebu.

The group issued the clarification after Castro and Gigante were arrested for swimming and drinking at a beach in Moalboal town in southwest Cebu.

“We do not have a staff named Javier Castro. And the signature below also do not reflect the signature of our Chief-of-Staff. Also, we do not issue this kind of certification to any individual for we procure, consolidate, and turn-over our relief goods personally to the concerned LGU,” the group said in a message to SunStar Philippines.

“All of our activities are usually posted in our Facebook Page. And as far as our efforts for relief operations is concerned we are currently concentrated in Region III,” the group added.

Patrol Party-list also clarified that it does not release handwritten documents.

“We noticed aside from the signature of the Chief-of-staff, the name and designation are also handwritten. We do not release documents bearing handwritten names or entries left as blank,” its message read.

Castro reportedly showed a letter signed by Patrol party-list’s chief-of-staff to policemen manning border control checkpoints as he and his girlfriend headed towards the southwest coast of Cebu.

The letter supposedly authorizes Castro, as a staff of the organization, to distribute relief goods.

The couple claimed they were on their way to Alegria, but were caught swimming in the adjacent town of Moalboal.

The entire province of Cebu is still under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until May 15 as a measure to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, which causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). (SunStar Philippines)
