BENGUET caretaker and ACT-CIS Party-list Representative Congressman Eric Go Yap is now an adopted son of the province.
Members of the Provincial Board on Monday, May 11, passed Resolution No. 2020-499 adopting Yap as a son of Benguet in recognition to his sincere concern for the province.
“The Sangguniang Panlalawigan finds it fitting that Hon. Eric Go Yap be adopted as a son of Benguet as a gift on his birthday, today, May 11,” the resolution reads.
Vice Governor Johnny Waguis said the adoption of Yap as a son of the province serve as formal acceptance as caretaker and in recognition of his sincere support to the province.
The Benguet official added Yap has also shown so much concern to the province especially in the time of the Covid-19.
Yap distributed relief assistance such as 500 cavans of rice equally distributed to 13 municipalities in the province and P2.5 million worth of personal protective equipment (PPEs) and other essential needs to the health workers in Benguet General Hospital.
The board added an official ceremony is set to follow on a more appropriate date in consideration of the current global health crisis.
Yap meanwhile said he is honored to be adopted as a son of Benguet.
“Nagpapasalalamat tayo sa mga bumubuo ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Benguet sa pangunguna ni Vice Governor Johnny Waguis sa isang karangalang ito. It is a great privilege and a very nice gesture from the Sanggunian to bestow this honor on my birthday. Since my appointment as the Legislative Caretaker of Benguet, I always thrive to exert my best efforts to serve the people especially in this time of uncertainty and crisis,” Yap stated.
The solon also pledged to continue to serve the province and make his mark as a public servant.
“In my personal capacity, I vow to always help in whatever way I can and I will continue to do so until the very last minute of my tenure as your Representative. Hindi tayo nandito para lang dumaan at magpalipas ng panahon, nandito tayo upang mag-iwan ng marka na tayo ay nagsilbi ng tapat, buong puso at buong husay. Nagbabantay tayo, nakikinig tayo at dinadama natin ang mga pangangailangan ng Benguet at tutulong tayo ng walang hinihintay na kapalit. With or without recognitions and affirmations, my commitment and will to serve will never falter. It is an inspiration but not my sole motivation.”
The statement added, “hindi man tayo isinilang sa Benguet, ang puso naman natin ay buo at kaisa ng mga taga Benguet. Hangad ko na sa mga munting paraan ko ay maramdaman ninyo na hindi kayo nag-iisa at kasama ninyo ako. Maaaring sa ngayon ay hindi ko kabisado ang bawat sulok ng Benguet at kilala ang bawat tao pero kaya natin itong matutunan. Ang mahalaga, buo ang puso at kagustuhan natin makapagsilbi sa ating mga kababayan sa Benguet.”
